Post Update 10/21/2022: Adding a bit more info at the end of the post. I also added Pal’s rating as well.
A few weeks back i saw an ad from e.l.f stating they were having mystery boxes. I’ve purchased a few from various brands in the past and figured I’d give this one a try. I actually ordered two one for myself and one for my mom. they were around $25 and you were sent a variety of products.
That being shared one of them happened to be the Holy Hydration Moisturizer.
Here’s a photo of one of the mystery boxes
the product
This was the first time I’d used a moisturizer from e.l.f. I had used a few of their makeup products in the past, especially their primer.
So this was something I was interested in trying.
The cream comes in a plastic jar. it’s easy to open and has a protective plastic cover under the lid.
The cream can be used twice a day. I liked that it wasn’t oily or greasy. It can be used on dry, oily, or combination skin according to the box.
To me, this cream has a light fresh scent. There are 2 other types of this cream as well fragrance-free and one with an SPF.
This version does have hyaluronic acid and peptides
You apply a quarter-size amount to your skin and blend it in. I liked that it didn’t leave a white cast or separate.
The cream is a white shade and a bit on the thicker side.

User experience
I didn’t start using this product until a few weeks ago. I can say it worked well to keep my skin hydrated even in the summer heat. I liked that it didn’t leave my face feeling oily or greasy. It didn’t leave a white cast on my face either. I didn’t have any pilling or operating.
I will admit depending on your sunscreen preferences (chemical or mineral) you may have some peeling
I didn’t have any breakouts or skin reactions when using this product. It worked well with my existing skincare routine.
I found that the cream did hydrate my face well. I didn’t have dry patches or any oiliness. Even in 100-plus-degree heat, it worked well.

Final thoughts and where to buy
final thoughts
Overall for being the first e.l.f face cream I’ve used I was very happy with it. I was also surprised by how hydrating it is. It does work even better if you use a toner or a serum before applying it. But even alone it left my skin hydrated. I didn’t have any greasy or oily skin. I also didn’t have any breakouts or skin irritation.
I’m almost done with the jar and would consider purchasing this again.
Where to buy
The price point is reasonable as well. it’s around $13 USD. Price may vary by retailer and cream.
I will gladly purchase this again in the future.
e.l.f has a complete line of Holy Hydration products.
Target also sells a few items as well.
Product update 10/21/2022
I finished off the elf holy hydration moisturizer earlier this week. Overall I liked the product as I mentioned in the above post. I will have to purchase this product again in the future. it worked well and hydrated my face. I liked that it didn’t leave my face greasy or oily. It also held up well during the hotter months. I liked that it didn’t pill or flake when using certain sunscreens. I also found that it left my face very nourished.
The holy hydration cream didn’t cause any breakouts or adverse reactions when used with my existing skincare routine.
The moisturizer is affordable and did a good job of hydrating my dry skin.
