Being a content creator I tend to have a lot of emails offering me partnerships for my Youtube channel or even general affiliate or promotional advertising offers.
These are all great but I’ve come to find that most are scams.
How can this be?
If you check the email addresses and read the emails you might find some red flags.
The email
The sender
I was sent two emails both making the same request to two separate email addresses. The email came from manager <advertising.manager33@atlas.cz>
The email address is a bit suspicious if you ask me but I’ll get to that later.
the message
The message is pretty straightforward and states they are working with the brand Shopify. They also suggest we have a partnership via Youtube. Basically advertising for them.
Hello! Â
email text
I am a representative of the online company Shopify. Â
We have carefully reviewed your YouTube channel, and we would like to offer cooperation in the form of advertising integration of our short 40-second clip in your next video. Â
More about us: Shopify is the name of its proprietary e-commerce platform for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems. Â
We are ready to offer you a one-time payment of $2,400. Â
You need to provide your details to receive payment for the contract that I will send you in the next letter.

I had this email request twice once to my reviews and savings pal email address and one to my life with pal email address.
Here’s a screenshot of the one from the reviews and savings pal email address.
How is this a scam
I think this is a possible scam because the email address is a dot CZ which is from the Czech Republic. Also, I don’t think many marketing managers would want you to contact them via the Telegram app.
The other red flag I noticed was the price quote of $2,400 for 40-second ad placement. To me, that sounds a bit high.
Another thing that caught my eye was that they were suggesting I sent payment info their way. Not if you are interested please do X.

To me, this text means that once you send along your payment info you will be sent a contract. I may be misunderstanding this but I think that’s pretty shady.
when in doubt
When in doubt always do a quick internet search. You can check the email address. You can also contact the brand listed in the email directly.
For example, if I wanted to reach out to Shopify I would ask if they even have Youtube partnerships and refer to the email I was sent. Include the email address as well.
Most brands may even have a Frequently Asked Questions page or commonly asked questions as well.
What not to do
Don’t take these offers as valid. Never reply back to them with any payment information. Also never provide them with any account or other personal info.
It’s always best to err on the side of caution and play it safe.
