A few weeks ago a Pinchme box arrived. It contained a few different samples. One happened to be Aveen Daily Moisturizing body wash. The body wash is stated to help dry skin and moisturize it.
I’ve had mixed reviews with another Aveeno product I used in the past. But thought this one might be worthwhile since it’s stated for dry skin. I figured I’d try it and see how well it helped improve my dry skin.
The product
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing body wash is stated to be suitable for dry and sensitive skin. It’s lightly scented and is made with oats. The sample bottle I was sent had a pressure-push top. It was a travel-size sample.
The body wash can be used daily. You can apply it to your hands, a washcloth, or a pouf. I used it with my hands.
You will need to shake the bottle before using it.
The scent is light and almost soapy. It’s not too overwhelming. it’s a bit of a creamy white to light beige shade.
The body wash is formulated without dyes or soaps.
Ingredients (source Aveeno’s product page)
Water, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Fragrance, Glycol Distearate, Polyquaternium-10, Tetrasodium EDTA, Myristyl Alcohol, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Oil, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Sodium Hydroxide
user experience
The body wash has a light lather. I’ve used about a dime to a quarter-sized amount. it’s creamy and has the consistency of shampoo. You will need to shake the bottle before using it. I thought the scent was slight but fragrant. If you are someone who is sensitive to scents you will want to spot test to make sure you don’t have any type of skin irritation.
The lather is gentle it’s not super frothy or bubbly. This could have just been my experience because I use the product in my hands as opposed to a washcloth or a pouf. For me the lather was okay. I will say I liked that it wasn’t too drying to the skin. I did feel that it left my skin oily after rinsing.
The body wash rinses well but again my skin felt oily. I understand why it did but if I used too much body wash it felt like it just left my skin feeling slick.
This worked well during the summer months as well. I liked that I didn’t have any adverse reactions or skin irritation.
Overall it does add extra moisturizing qualities to your skin (if you don’t mind feeling oily for a little while).
final thoughts and where to buy
Final thoughts
The product did add hydration and moisture to my dry skin even during the summer months but I found a few cons about it.
Here are the cons I found:
- Slick/oily feel to the skin after use
- The scent may not be for everyone
- The lather may not be to everyone’s liking
- Having to shake the bottle before using it
Overall the product did work well but I felt that it didn’t really add a lot of extra moisture to my skin. But again this is my experience everyone is different.
I could have done without the oiliness of my skin. If you are someone who has rough or chicken skin you may see a slight softening but nothing too exciting.
