Dema-E gifted me the Universal cleansing balm in a box with a variety of other products. As usual, I set it aside until I needed it. Well, the time came for me to put the product to the test so to speak. I used it to remove some makeup I tested. If you’re interested in learning more about that you can visit this post. You can also check out the video post if you don’t’ feel like reading.
The product
The Universal cleansing balm jar is 3.5 oz and is filled well. It includes a scoop or spatula for easy removal.
I liked that Derma-e included this spatula because I like to use them. It’s also nice to have because the balm is a bit thick so it makes it easier to remove from the jar.
The balm is an off white to a light yellow shade. it has a lovely smell. some of the key ingredients are rosehip, camellia oil, cocoa & shea butter.
It smells lovely and you can catch the hint of rose hip, cameillia oil and of course the butters.
You apply the cleansing balm to dry skin. You can add water after you apply it to your face and work the product in a circular motion.
Ingrdients (Derma-e product page)

The usage test
I used the cleansing balm to remove some makeup. I had been wearing the makeup all day.
The cleansing balm is easy to open and includes a protective plastic interior lid.
I applied the cleansing balm as directed. Since I scooped out a big glob i think i may have applied to much. The instant i applied it to my face i could smell the cocoa butter and the shea butter. I noted the floral scents too.
It melted the makeup quickly. I left the balm on my face for about a minute or two. I noticed how hydrating it was. It does have a slight oiliness to it. But it’s not slippery on the skin. As you work your fingers around your face the balm begins to do it’s work. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry either.
I wiped my face with a damp cloth before finally rinsing it. I liked that the balm can be wiped off easily. Depending on how much you apply at first you may need to wipe your face twice. I liked that it melted the makeup away.
My face rinsed clean and I didn’t feel like I had any excess makeup on it. Granted not every cleanser even balm will remove everything from your skin but this one did a pretty good job.
final thoughts
i loved the Universal cleansing balm. It did a great job at removing makeup. It hydrated my skin with out leaving it feeling oily or greasy. I liked that a small amount goes a long way. It’s easy to remove with a damp cloth or by rinsing your face. I didn’t have any adverse reactions or skin issues.
I also like that it was gentle on the skin.
The Universal cleansing balm is priced at $15.00 USD at Derma-E. You can also find it at Ulta. Price may vary.
