Back in 2019 Derma-E gifted me a toner. The Essentials Radiance Toner was something I hadn’t tried before. I was also excited to try it because it was alcohol -free. I was also hoping it would be less drying versus a toner with alcohol in it.
Product Overview
The Essentials Radiance Toner has Glycolic Acid & Rooibos in it. It also has a floral scent. It also includes Rosehip hence the rose scent. Overall the toner is stated to help tighten, tone and brighten your skin. I might also smooth your skin as well.

Purified Water, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid; Actimoist® Bio-1), Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxide, Pinus Pinaster (Pycnogenol®) Bark Extract, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Leaf Extract, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Extract, Saccharide Isomerate, Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Extract*, Allantoin, Organic Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract*, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Natural Fragrance Oils.
An added note
The product does have a sunburn alert on the back label. You will need to use some form of sun protection.
The color of the toner is a bit of a golden shade. Due to its natural ingredients, it may change color over time.
User Experience
I used this a few times over the past few weeks. I mainly used it at night. I liked the toner because it was cooling and it didn’t seem to dry out my skin. It’s also lightweight and didn’t leave my face feeling sticky or tacky. It absorbs quickly as well.
But…Yes, I said but unlike most of the Derma-E products I’ve used in the past, this one caused some skin irritation.
I noticed some redness and irritation. I can’t say for certain if this was a reaction to possibly the cleanser I had used before. Maybe I didn’t rinse my face enough. But I did have this happen after two or three uses. So I set the product aside.
Another thing I noticed was the overall scent. It is floral. I don’t mind it but I can have some sensitivities to this as well. I found that even when I used the toner alone I felt my skin become irritated.
Final Thoughts
I wanted to use Essentials Radiance Toner but I felt that it didn’t work well with my skin. The floral scent is a bit too strong for me as well. This is one of the few products from Derma-E that I’ve had a reaction too.
I’m grateful to Derma-E for gifting me this product. Eventhough it did cause me skin irritation I was happy I was able to try it.
