Update 3/8/2023 to add video review.

I was able to try a new shampoo recently. The delicate comfort deep cleanser shampoo by Shu Uemura art of hair.

This brand was new to me but I did like the results I saw and the overall quality of the product. Thanks to bzzagent and the brand for the complementary product and testing opportunity.

The product

This shampoo is a gentle cleansing clarifying shampoo. The shampoo helps cleanse build-up on the hair and scalp. The brand states the following: moisturizing clarifying shampoo for dry scalp and hair.

The bottle is large and has a pump top. The shampoo itself is a pinkish shade and clear once it’s pumped into the hand. The pump top is easy to use and has a locking feature.

The scent is lovely. To me, it smells like cherry blossoms. According to the brand it has jasmine, sandalwood, and vanilla notes.

The shampoo can be used alone or once a week for cleansing of build-up on hair and scalp. You can follow it up with a Shu Uemura conditioner or a conditioner of your choice. The shampoo can help moisturize and balance your scalp. It also helps remove built-up oils or styling products on your hair.

User experience

I’ve used my fair share of clarifying shampoos and most work well but are harsh on my hair. They strip it to the point where it’s stingy or even squeaky clean. I’ve also had some that strip my hair so much that it’s excessively dry.

The first thing I noticed about this product was the shampoo consistency. It’s thin yet not so runny it’s watery.

It has body and will pool in your hand.

due to its clear color, it’s hard to capture on camera. That’s why I used around two or three pumps for the above image.

I noticed the lovely scent as soon as I pumped it into my hand. It’s light and not too harsh. It also isn’t so pungent it’s overwhelming.

It does fade as you use the shampoo.

The lather is good as well. once again since I used a few pumps of shampoo the lather is thicker than what you might use for a typical shampooing.

When I used it originally I only used about one to one and a half pumps. It works well on the hair and scalp. I noticed a difference after the first use. I liked that it gave me a gentle lather and didn’t mat my hair or make it stringy.

It left my hair feeling clean but didn’t leave it excessively dry. I also didn’t feel my hair was crunchy.

The shampoo scent lingers for a while but fades as time goes on.

Overall the product worked well for me.

This was after the second use. My hair was softer. I liked that it had more bounce and the shampoo enhances my natural waves.

After the last few uses, I’ve noticed my scalp isn’t as dry. It also feels less itchy. I’ve been using it about once a week. I’ve tried it two days in a row and have noticed my hair and scalp are doing better. My hair has more bounce and isn’t so flat.

This may not be the result for everyone. Also if you use a number of styling products your results may vary.

So far my hair feels softer and looks healthier.

Final thoughts and where to buy

Final thoughts

As a whole, the delicate comfort deep cleanser shampoo by Shu Uemura art of hair was better than I expected. It did a good job of removing the build-up on my hair and scalp. Even though I don’t use styling products it did a good job of removing excess conditioner buildup. It also didn’t leave my hair stringy or so dry it was crunchy.

I felt a difference in my hair and scalp after the first use. My hair was softer and my scalp felt less dry. As time has gone on my scalp feels less itchy. My hair is manageable and doesn’t seem as frizzy. Again this may not be the case for everyone.

I liked that even when I used the shampoo alone it didn’t leave my hair a tangled mess or excessively dry.
