On Monday I shared a post about a possible charity scam email. And it didn’t take long for the comments to start popping up on how to recover my lost money.
I knew these were all spam comments because they all referenced the same or similar hashtag or directed me to an Instagram account.
Oddly enough the comments weren’t posted on our Life with Pal Facebook page but to my personal Facebook page post.
The scammers are always scamming
I had 12 comments in an hour from a few Facebook accounts. I wondered if they had been hacked and they were run by scammers. I didn’t take the time to look into it because as soon as I saw they were posts promoting or praising a recovery service I knew it was fake.
They spammed my post in the hope I would visit the Instagram page. I also knew they hadn’t read the post at all because one of the comments said if you need to recover your money visit #(hashtag xyz) followed by they helped me recover X amount of money.
These are always scams too.
The only way you get your money back
The only way you may get your money back is if it was credit card or debit card fraud and your credit card company/bank reimburses the fraudulent charges. But even this has to be investigated.
If you send money via a peer-to-peer service (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, etc) buy gift cards, or even send your cash or check that money is lost.
don’t believe in recovery services
Don’t fall for the idea that if you reach out to an Instagram account or even contacted by a profile to share their recovery services. These are just another scam or another way to get your money.
If send money to a scamme no matter where it is (US or Other countries) you won’t be able to get your money back.

Comments like these make me mad and sad at the same time. If someone is desperate to recover the money they were scammed out of I can see how quickly they would contact the person trying to recover their lost money.
I can see how if you were bombarded with a dozen comments from people claiming #xyz was able to recover my $1,000 or whatever amount they stated.
