I think many of us who use social media tend to think our profile growth may be slow or maybe your not having any growth at all. Like with most social sites they are ever-changing. Maybe you have a small blog (like me) or you’re a business. Even if you’re a content creator you still may think you’re not reaching all the people you’d like.
You may have a promising looking email land in your inbox one day claiming to solve all of your social media profile woes.
All your social woes solved…
The emails for these types of sites or services always make it seem so exciting. It’s like yes please take my money so I’ll suddenly have 1,000 followers plus 1,000 likes a day.
They also state they will help boost your engagement by using organic growth. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again no one can tell me what organic growth means when it comes to these types of services. Here’s Wikipedia’s explanation of organic growth.
The other thing these sites/services are good at is having catchy names such as Social boost or Instafamous (or something like that). I had one email today that the company is named River. Check out Trustpilot reviews on River. The pricing options also seem good. i saw one site that had some as low as $2 or $3 a day.
Upon further investigation
Okay, let’s be serious here it may sound too good to be true that you pay as little as $2 a day for so many followers or likes or other social engagement. I’ve also seen sites that offer packages for a set fee.
Here’s the thing if you know your basically cheating yourself by funneling money into automated likes, follows, etc how is this creating growth for your profiles? To me, it’s not. Once the money runs out your back to square one.
I’d like to point out research is key for these types of sites/services. Since so many are popping up overnight it seems you don’t want to get scammed. Personally I still think many of these services can be a scam
a big red flag
One of the big red flags for these sites/services is that many don’t have clickable contact us info. Or they are based overseas. I know many companies are worldwide but I wonder where my money would go. Especially if you’re shelling out $99 a month. I’ve seen some sites charge over $150 a month for various services on one platform alone.
Another thing I noticed today was that the site that emailed me only accepts PayPal. They don’t even offer a FAQ page. It’s odd that there isn’t even a contact us via their site. When you hover on the link it only shows the mail to: followed by the brand email.
Many sites also make you start a trial period before you pay. Some have 3 days some have 7 days.
Other factors to consider
There are other factors you need to consider as well. Many social media platforms are cracking down on mass spamming of likes or follows or what have you. You could be banned from the site you choose to implement these types of services. The ban many last for a short time up to a few days. Or worse you could lose your entire account. So keep that in mind when one of these emails lands in your inbox next time.
Things you can do help organic growth
- Stay active
- Share your posts via all platforms you use
- Share your blog or business or what have you with friends and family
- Ask others what they’d like to read or see
- Stick with topics that have high engagement (if possible)
Just don’t fall for it
Just don’t fall for the quick fix approach to gaining engagement. You don’t want to be banned or lose your account. If people like your content they will follow. I know it takes time and can seem like a burden but don’t throw your hard work and effort away just to try to be popular.
