I’ve come across a few interesting posts lately via Instagram. As you all know if i suspect it’s a scam I’ll share it.
That’s the case for today’s post.
Ambassador request tagging
Please note: I’m not saying Shein is a scam just the tagging request that is featuring their content.
This isn’t anything new but I’ve seen a rise in these lately. This usually is when a random and possibly private account tags you out of the blue.
I’ve had this happen about 4 times this month. All the profiles are dummy profiles because non have a photo and they have no real content. Some may even be private.
I’ve had 4 for the SheIn Clothing brand. Here’s the thing I’ve never purchased or promoted the brand at all. Nor do I have an interest too. They don’t sell anything I would be interested in wearing.
Did anyone else notice the requests offer a gift card in New Zealand money?
Living in the USA this should be a big red flag. Why would you take an offer that isn’t offered in your own country’s currency?
I understand Shein is a global brand but always double-check with them first before you jump on the ambassador request tags. I have a feeling this is a scam or at least a fake offer.
using google as a bio link
Earlier this month I saw that I had a new follower. Well, I usually check the profiles to see what the person shares. If I feel they have anything worthwhile i give them a follow. Well, I came upon a profile that was run by a woman. Well, the profile had a woman’s image as the profile picture.
But one thing that got me was that the bio line was to Google or Gmail I can’t recall which.
I didn’t follow back and i think i blocked the profile. I didn’t know if it was a legit profile or a fake one. When I went back to check the bio link had been removed.
Why is this suspicious?
This set off a red flag because I had seen there was an alert about fake google login pages. So I assumed this was a possible phishing attempt to gain your info.
Also, think about it why would someone just have google or gmail.com in their bio link?
Fake psychics or healers or astrologers
Okay, these folks aren’t anything new. These types of scams happen offline as well. But I’ve noticed a rise in these random profiles via Instagram lately.
I have nothing but respect for these folks. I’ve encountered my own psychic experiences in the past and am an astrology lover. Yet it annoys me that people are being scammed.
I had a person post a random comment today. This was from an account claiming to be a priestess. It was left on the most random photo you could pick. It was a selfie i had to take for a campaign for Ripple Street earlier this month.
Here’s a screenshot of the post. I shared it to my IG stories because the profile posted it twice.
Priestess Sonia: if really believe in Vedic astrology and energy chakras. I have noticed frost cause of some toxic guy around you in the past. if you can inbox me with your right palm picture thank you namaste. prayer hands heart and star emoji.
I don’t think a legitimate healer or psychic or even astrologer would post such a random request. I assume this profile wanted to read my palm for me. Of course, a fee would probably be tacked on later.
The language of the comment was off as well. There seemed to be a few missing words in the opening sentence.
I’ve also had other accounts direct message me with the same silly line. It’s usually that they had a strong need to contact me to offer me a reading or to give me some sort of vague message.
If i need to contact my dead relatives I can do it myself thanks.
I know many people might fall prey to these fake healers, psychics, or astrologers in hopes to make life better or deal with past issues.
Just don’t fall for it people.
Not a scam but still worth mentioning.
I have one non-scam post that fits this article today. These would be direct messages from brands trying to get you to use referral codes.
I don’t know if this is something new or if social media marketing brands want to make extra money. But this seems to be something new.
I had a social media marketing company want me to use their referral link for an affiliate program I’m currently a part of.
I’m not saying this is a scam but it is misleading if you don’t do your research most referral links do offer some sort of commission for the person or brand who directs you there.
So this marketing site was going to earn anywhere from $20 to up to $100 per person who joined using their referral link.
So always do your research before using a referral link you are sent out of the blue from a brand you are not familiar with.
As always if the offer sounds too good to be true it probably is.
