Update 6-18-2018: I thought I’d share this since this week marks the first day of summer. I’ve also added a new link at the bottom of the post that may interest some of you.

I originally found this recipe in a cookbook titled

A Taste of Astrology by Lucy Ash

(please excuse my poor scanning skills)

I’ve created my own variation of this recipe over the years. When I first made it I used ground beef. Lately, I’ve been into making turkey burgers. I’ver also used a combo of ground turkey and beef. either way, the recipe comes out very well.

Today I used the following:

  1. 1 and a half Onion chopped (any variety you like)
  2. 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 3 lbs of ground turkey (That’s the way I buy it.

A variety of spices such as the following:

  • Tumeric
  • Paprika
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Garlic salt
  • Pepper
  • Lemon pepper
  • Ground Cumin
  • Nutmeg

I also added a whole container of blue cheese crumbles.  As you can see I also put down a plastic bag under my bowl because I find it easier when I clean up.

I added them all to taste

I also added You can amend this to your liking.

  • 1 Cup pine nuts
  • 1 Cup almond slivers

If you have a nut allergy you can skip these.

Basically, I don’t measure I just toss in what I like and if I think it needs more of this or that I add it.

After all this, i added Panko bread crumbs and some homemade bread crumbs that I had as well. I like the Pank because it gives the burger a nice consistency and it also absorbs more liquid

I mixed everything together with my hands. Once I felt everything was evenly mixed I added 3 eggs.

After I incorporated the eggs I felt the mixture was a little too wet so I added more panko bread crumbs.

You can make the patties any size you like. I like to have a thicker hamburger so I make larger size patties. I have also made them slider size and 3 lbs of turkey goes a long way.

(Sorry that picture came out blurry)

You can cook them to your desired liking. I like to make sure they are cooked fully but again that’s the way I like them.

This is what my burgers look like once they are done. You can top them any way you like. I happened to add fried onion, garlic and mushrooms to mine I also added bacon as well.

What would you add to your creation?
