There seems to be a number of text scams going around again. Lately, they have been decal or car wrap scams These scams claim that they will add an advertisement or decal sticker on to your car, truck, or motorcycle. Any vehicle for that matter. The offer states that you can be paid up to $500 a week. Sound too good to be true? I thought so too.
Here’s a video sharing about other text scams using the same tactics as some of the new text scams offering decals.
The latests decal scam
Today I had a random text message from a 205 area code Alabama based number. The text was asking if I’d like to have a Bud Light sticker added to my car truck or motorcycle. I’d be paid $500 USD followed by a link to sign up.
I knew this was a scam because as far as I’d known Budlight didn’t offer this type of service.
The text
The text is as follows:
Hello, would you allow BUD-LIGHT to put a small sticker on your CAR, TRUCK, OR MOTORCYCLE? Get $500 Driving with our adertisement click here to apply https://budlightautodecalpromo.com
what not to do
As always don’t click on any links or attachments in the text message. You never know where or what these links may contain or take you.
What you can do
- Always search for the URL to see if it’s a scam.
- You can even reach out to the brand listed to see if they even participate in decal promos for cars, trucks etc.
- you can report the text as a scam to your cell provider.
So remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Sorry to say but Bud Light isn’t going to pay you $500 a week for a sticker or advertising decal.
