I don’t know about anyone else but boy have i been having numerous spam DM’s lately via Instagram. Thankfully the sugar daddies have stopped for the time being. (I’ll probably jinx myself now watch.)

Most are standard spam DM’s asking me to check out X profile to grow my Instagram following or sellers trying to ask me to review products. But lately, I’ve had a few others that are just odd requests to follow profiles.

everyone wants to grow their following

I get that everyone wants to grow their following but it’s starting to get a bit spammy now. I understand that people send follow requests via various social media platforms. I get them often as I mentioned. Yet it feels like people are trying to be sneaky about it.

third party requests

Having a random person send a profile link asking to please follow Jimmy the guitarist is just odd to me. Again i understand people want to grow their following but having a blank account sends a request to follow someone isn’t very encouraging to me.

What I mean by a blank account is one that just has a simple profile photos but no or limited information. They may be no photos in their account either.

For the request I was just sent to follow a musician the third party even apologized for her lacking any personalization.

That’s all fine and dandy yet I don’t see the need for the mass spam. I’m going to delete the message any way.

These request are on the rise

I’ve noticed that these requests are becoming more and more common. I’ve had them for accounts promoting IG marketing or follower buying (which violates IG’s terms of use by the way). I also had one for some sort of Logo or animation creations profile.

Again that’s nice but you’d think the companies or brands would reach out to a random account directly not resort to these types of sneaky tactics. I find it funny when i see these please follow X logo maker and to create logos for cheap. Or follow Y follower site to gain thousands of likes in 5 days. The third party promoter is always trying to upsell the brand and claim it’s the best.

I get all that but again it makes some of the brands look shady in my opinion.

share your thoughts on the topic. I’d love to read them.
