When Figaro has the honour to discover his power on high level mixology, we can just say thank you Jean Vital for your greats #signaturecocktails, for your passion and your enthusiasm. ?

This drink first appeared in Harry McElhone’s 1927 Barflies and Cocktails, and again three years later in The Savoy Cocktail Book (1930) with the caption: “This is the genuine ‘Ink of Inspiration,’ imbibed at the Bal Bullier, Paris. The recipe is from the Artists’ Club, Rue Pigalle, Paris.”

The version I did is revisited. The classic version uses grenadine instead of Fig liqueur. .

25 ml Blended whisky
25 ml Dry Oloroso Sherry
20 ml Lemon juice
15 ml Fig liqueur @figarofigliqueur
5 ml Dark sugar syrup .
Stir and strain. Or shake and Strain.

Who is this Harry Macelhone?
Harry MacElhone was an early 20th century bartender, most famous for his role at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, which he bought in 1923.
He is often credited with inventing many classic cocktails, including the Bloody Mary, Sidecar the Monkey Gland, the Boulvardier,  and an early form of the French 75.
