I was selected to test a free product thanks to Seventh Generation and Generation Good. I was interested in trying it since I’ve tried a few other natural deodorants in the past. I was curious to see how this one compared.

The product

Seventh Generation sells many product that are biodegradable. This deodorant is no different. It is sold in various scents. The one I was sent is Powder Fresh scent. The size is a standard 2.65 twist style deodorant container.

The deodorant can be used daily or as needed. It contains now alcohols or alumimum or synthetic scents.

It’s a clear or opaque color. Like with any deodorant Seventh Generation suggest you not apply it to broken or irritated skin.

Just an FYI the deodorant did come with a plastic protector cover but I removed it prior to taking the picture.

User Experience

This is the first Seventh Generation deodorant I’ve ever used. So it was different. I liked that it didn’t leave any white marks on my skin or my clothes. However since it’s clear you may over apply the product. Maybe it’s just because I’m used to seeing the product color on my skin. I applied a few swipes of the deodorant under each arm.

I didn’t have any skin irritation or discomfort. I liked that the product didn’t cause any skin discoloration either. I noticed that with some deodorants my underarms may darken.

I will say like with my past test of natural deodorants this one doesn’t do much for wetness protection.

As far as odor control goes I thought it did an okay job. Again it may vary from user to user. This may also vary by your environment and how much you sweat.

I tried it on days where it was above 90 degrees. Again it worked for a short time but I would probably have to reapply it through out the day on hot days.

As far as the powder fresh scent goes it’s light and airy. it’s not too heavy or overwhelming. It’s noticeable but you don’t smell like powder for hours either.

Final thoughts

For me this was an okay product. I could see using it during the winter months when I’m not sweating so much. Now that we are in summer it’s fair but not great. I did like that it didn’t have aluminum in it. Since ti has arrowroot and glycerin in it my skin did feel smoother. I also liked that I didn’t have any adverse reactions.

Yet it could do better at helping with wetness control. The powder fresh scent was nice because it wasn’t too heavy. Overall I like Seventh Generation’s biodegradable or green product ideas. I also liked that the deodorant didn’t stain my clothing and it washed out well.

Now let’s talk about price. The Not Just Deodorant retails for $4.97 USD. It’s sold at a few retailers. I will add the Seventh Generation below so you can locate the product near you.
