With one of my recent tarte cosmetic orders, I had a few samples included in the box. Well, I finally got around to trying one of them a few days back. since the packet was a one-time use item I figured I’d share my thoughts on it.
Like with most brands some people rave about products others may have more of a lackluster response about them. Overall I hadn’t tried anything by tarte. So I was very curious to see how well this would work.
Product overview
As you can see from the photo above the packet is just that a sample size packet. From what I read on the packet it’s stated to help keep your skin hydrated thanks to hyaluronic acid, essential oils, and other ingredients.

User experience
I found the packet fairly simple to open. It had the perforated corners so you can pull it open. If you have trouble you can also use a pair of scissors.
I was expecting more of a cream but I didn’t read the packet fully. So imagine my surprise when I saw it was a gel.
It’s a bit hard to see in the photo above but there’s a light glob of gel on my hand.
Overall the product is lightweight and did spread across the skin well. Since I’ve used Hyaluronic acid in the past I was familiar with the refreshing feeling. I liked that it didn’t have much of a scent to it either. It was cooling to the skin.
I liked that the product didn’t feel sticky or tacky on my skin. It absorbed rather quickly.
How hydrating is it?
Well…… It was okay I guess. I felt my face begin to feel dry after about a half-hour or an hour at most after application. I usually tend to have dryness around my nose, and some spots on my cheeks and the bridge of my nose.
For me, I can say it was about average. I didn’t apply any moisturizer after this because I wanted to see how well it worked on my dry skin.
Is it worth the hype?
This answer may vary from user to user. As I said above it was about average for me. If you know your skin type then you usually know what works for you. For me it was good but I would have to use this in combination with another skincare product.
I would add this more like a serum option before applying my moisturizer. Overall it was cooling to the skin and did give my face hydration to a point.
The drink h20 hydrating boost is sold in a few different size options.
From tarte the small size is around $14 USD. There is also a larger size jar that’s $39 USD.
