So as many of you might know I went to see Nine Inch Nails back in December of 2018. You can read that post here if you’re interested. I used many of may favorite makeup brands and added a few new ones. I will admit had tested some of them out before. Others i was hoping they would last the night.
The Look
Being that concerts are like an event for me I wanted to look cute but switch up my usual concert look. I used the following products:
Primers
PUR Cosmetics Correcting primer illuminate & glow.
I have the sample size as opposed to one shown in the above image.
I love how this gives you a subtle shimmer in certain light.
I also used my standard
e.l.f. Cosmetics Mineral Infused Face Primer- SmallI like this primer because it’s long lasting and I don’t have any adverse skin reactions. I also find that it’s breathable as well.
Face
Concealer:
Covergirl Outlast All-Day 830 Light/Medium
This was a new addition to my usual concealer selection. I had found it on sale a few weeks before. It’s a nice liquid concealer that seemed to hold up well.
Foundation:
Covergirl Trublend M7 (Soft Honey)
For me, this is one of my go-to foundations. I’ve always found it blends well with my skin tone and haven’t had any issues with it.
Setting powder
I used my usual
e.l.f. Cosmetics High Definition Powder In SheerI like this one because it’s sheer but it is a bit dusty.
Blush
I used BH Cosmetics Blush palette. I love this set it offers a nice variety of colors.
Highlighter
I also used some highlighter to add some extra shimmer. You can’t see it in these photos but it’s there
Naked Cosmetics Holographic palette
Here’s an example of what it looks like
Eyes
For my eyes I used a few products. I started off with a base of a liqud highlighter. Yeah it’s an odd thing to start with but it works. It also works as a great shadow primer if your not into buying a seperate primer.
Maybelline Master Strobing liquid Highlighter 300 Deep Gold
Eyeshadow
I used both matte shadow and a layer of a gel shadow and a shadow topper
The matte shadow was Black from the
next I added
PUR Cosmetics Eye Polish Caviar is the shade
It’s an interesting shade it has flecks of green to what i would say a more metallic copper color.
Then to add a touch more shimmer I blended
BH Cosmetics Eye Lights shade BFF (Silver)
Eyeliner
I used a Julep eye liner
When pencil met gel galaxy black shimmer
The eyeliner has a bit of shimmer to it. when I first applied it i thought it was a bit light so i went over a few times to darken it.
Mascara
I used a sample of
This is very volumizing and didn’t seem to clump.
Lips
To top off the look I used
Covergirl melting pout Matte liquid lipstick 100 Gelebrity
If anyone is wondering i curled my hair with hot rollers.
I’m finally getting to the point
Now that I got that long list out of the way (If anyone cared in the first place) I’ll finally get to the point at hand. Being that i mixed a few new products with my old standards I was wondering how well they would hold up.
I usually apply my makeup before leaving the house. Since we’d be leaving early to make it to LA with enough time i applied my make up before 3 p.m. You can see part of the time in my original photo. For me, concerts are usually the wear test for most of my makeup products. Since depending on where we will be heading i can be out of the house for up to 12 hours. That was roughly the case when I went to see Nine Inch Nails in December of 2018.
For me, travel time is around 2 hours give or take traffic and how far into LA we will be going to a venue. Even during travel time I always try to notice if I feel a difference in my makeup feel. Granted you do dry out if you’re in the AC or in a warm car for too long. But that’s normal. I always try not to touch my eyes as much because I tend to smudge my eyeliner or even wipe it off. But all in all, when we made it to Hollywood we stopped off to have dinner. I checked my makeup and I looked fine.
The Look at the end of the night
So as you can see by the end of the night which was about 2:30 a.m. After being tossed around in a mosh pit and standing in a hot venue my face makeup held up. Yes my lipstick was gone so was some of my foundations but i still had hints of blush and my eye shadow was still on. One of the first things to go is my eyeliner. Which to me is never a surprise. I’m just happy I didn’t look like a raccoon.
To be honest I was surprised I still had makeup on when we left the venue. it was so hot in there. I liked that the foundation didn’t separate. I also didn’t feel that it melted off my face either. As for the blush I hadn’t put it through any paces or extremes such as the ones I experienced that night. So it was a plus when i saw i still had some on
The eye look it did seem to change a bit but i felt it still looked okay. It seemed to lighten some and maybe even fade. I can say the NARS mascara held up well and didn’t clump or flake. I also liked that the concealer didn’t cake either.
Overall I think this look survived somewhat well. Granted in the hot environment I was expecting some makeup loss but I was still very happy with the result. As for my hair, I looked like I got toss around but I think it only went along with my end of the night look. All in all, it was a great night and so much fun.
