I didn’t have Internet for 2 days. This is what I learned

Recently I had some internet service interruptions. This is nothing new it’s been a problem for as long as I’ve lived in my house. Being in an older neighborhood you come to accept these issues like it or not. The only con about having service issues is that we lose phone as well. Again, no big deal but still a pain. My city has two internet service providers as far as I know. You either have cable or AT&T. I’ve heard pros and cons for both, but I’m stuck with those options.

Well on Sunday 5/19/19 I woke up and went about my usual Sunday routine. I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary until I came back to my room to sit down and check my email. I noticed the phone blinking. My phone has an indicator light when the line is in use. So, I checked my modem and sure enough, service was out. Well, I grabbed my phone and checked for AT&T outage map. I read a slew of people who were upset because they had no service of any kind. From TV to cell service to of course internet service and general phone too.

I figured I’d wait it out for a little while. So, I went about my day and waited to see if the service would come back. I ended up calling to see what the issue was after a few hours. I go about the usual automated service response to finally get a representative. That’s oh so fun, isn’t it? The rep determined my service was indeed out. They had to schedule me for a Tuesday 5/21/19. (FYI I’m writing this post while I wait for the AT&T tech). I always think of the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer has to wait for the cable guy all day. I think we all feel that way.

As you can guess it’s frustrating to not have internet and phone service. Yes, I know I have a smartphone but there are tasks I don’t like to perform on it. I do so much that I like having the ease of a larger screen. I also didn’t want to max out my data plan either.

On the upside not having the internet gave my laptop rest for Sunday and most of Monday. I was also able to organize all the direct ship items I’ve had piled here and there into two boxes. I found that I had a lot of free time to figure out how to better organize my work area and room in general.

I also spend some time getting reacquainted with my Nintendo Wii. Yeah, it’s funny but I had so much time to do things aside from my household chores that I figured I’d game for a bit.

The major thing I took note of was that I am probably considered an Internet addict. I use it so much to keep on top of my blog posts, social shares and everything in between. I don’t feel disconnected without internet, but I do miss it. Yes, I know it’s only been two days, but I don’t look forward to having to weed through 300 emails when I can access my email again. In the meantime, I’ll wait for the AT&T tech. Hopefully, they will arrive soon and restore service.

I’ll update you all after this post is shared.

How do you cope when you lose internet service?
