I know this is probably a very silly topic but since it’s Friday I figured it’ll be fun. Besides it’s May 17th so why not talk about one of my favorite bands. Most people don’t always remember band names but we sure do remember songs.
Two popular NIN songs people always remember are Closer and Hurt. But like with many bands Nine Inch Nails isn’t just two songs. They are an overall experience. I’ve been fortunate enough to see NIN a few times throughout the years and it’s always exciting. There’s always electricity in the air no never know what to expect until you enter the venue. Some shows are stripped down with little visual effect. Not to mention they have bare bones lighting. Other times they are full of visual effects and video screens where you feel so fully emersed in the event that your left tingling when it’s over.
It always surprised me when people give me an odd look when I mention I like NIN. I never know what they expect me to listen too but they always give me this look
or this one
There are so many reasons why I love NIN. I won’t bore you with them but basically, it’s the overall sound. I enjoy the intricacies and roaring beats. Trent Reznor‘s powerhouse voice is also a winner in my book. You never know what to expect with each album release. That’s also an appeal.
I for one can say that this band kept me sane during one of the hardest times of my life. When I lost my brother it was NIN that got me through. I knew that if i could look forward to something I’d be okay. We all know that having a goal during a time of grief is helpful. Thanks to my brother I became an NIN fan. That was also a personal connection in a way. Well it got me through and so far they are still getting me through times that are tough.
I think we all have bands we connect with on some level mine just happens to NIN.
