DOLCE&GABBANA The Only One: A bit too sweet for my taste

A few weeks ago I shared via Instagram about a free sample that had arrived. Well like with most scent or perfume samples I try to use up the ones I have before trying a new one. I finally got around to trying D&G The only one during April.

My First Thoughts

I gave the small tube a quick sniff when it originally arrived. It did have a bit of a sweet smell to it. I didn’t find it off putting but it wasn’t something I would usually wear. I tend to gravitate more to floral or clean smelling perfumes or scents.

The Wear Test

First of all the sample is a decent size test tube. You can probably get a few uses out of it depending on how much you use at one time. Since I usually just use two sprays maybe three I still have some left.

The overall color of the perfume is a bit of a rose gold color. Maybe even golden depending on how you hold the tester.

Overall when i first sprayed the scent I noticed it was very sweet. It has a bit of floral notes but the sweetness wins out. After it settled on my skin I noticed that the sweet smell was a bit too much for me. I didn’t wash it off I figured it would mellow as the day went on. It did and some of the other blends of musk and floral began to appear. I wore it all day from around 9 am to 6 pm. Overall the scent lasts. It does fade yet you can still pick up subtle hints of it.

Final Thoughts

All in all, the Dolce & Gabbana The Only One is a long lasting scent. The only con for me was the sweetness of it. Again that’s my take. It is a fine fragrance so it does have lasting power. A spray or two on your pulse points are all you need. Being that it’s more high end it is a bit pricey. From what I found it can be found at many major department stores, Sephora and via Amazon.

That being shared however I would suggest you try a tester if it’s available to make sure it works with your body chemistry. I thought I smelled like candy for most of the day to be quite honest. As the scent mellowed it did get better but for around the first 2 hours, I kept thinking what’s that smell? Then I’d remember it was me. But I am still happy I was able to try this sample.
