Today i’d like to focus on tips I find useful when shopping for hair care and bath and body products at discount stores. Once again prices and selection may vary in-store and online. The same may go for pricing as well. Let’s get started.

Hair Care

Shampoos and Conditioners

Like with most products you can find a variety of items at a discount store. Some brands may be well-known others may be new to you. When I shop at Burlington Coat Factory or Marshalls or any similar discount store I’m always amazed by the array of hair care products. I’ve seen salon quality prices for half the price. I’ve also found brands I’ve never heard of.

That being said for unknown brands I would suggest reading the ingredients list as well as finding the country of origin. I purchased a great shampoo and conditioner set earlier this year from  UK brand and I loved it. I”ve also found band names like Dove, Garnier and the like mixed as well. I will also say that for the most part, you may want to grab certain products while they are on the shelf. I’ve noticed that nine times out of ten they won’t be there if you return to the store.

Another tip I suggest is inspecting the bottle make sure it doesn’t have any defects or cracks. Granted that’s common sense but still. Also, another thing I’ve noticed is that at times they may only have one product. For example, they may have a ton X brand conditioner but not the companion shampoo or vice versa. If your willing to take a chance on a new brand you may be surprised.

Styling Tools

I’ve always surprised when I come across high-end styling tools at discount stores. I’ve seen some very well know brands at my local Marshalls. The same could be said about my local Burlington Coat Factory. I don’t usually buy styling tools but I know a number of people who do.

The tips for buying these are very simple. Make sure the box isn’t damaged (common sense right). I’d also say to find a box that hasn’t been opened either. I know I’ve come across that many times while browsing. Besides that just check the product features to see what fits your needs. I picked up a nice set of hot rollers a few weeks back that has worked out well.

Bath and Body Products

Bath Products

The bath products are basically similar to hair care products you will find a variety of known and unknown brands. Again all I can say is read the ingredients and find the country of origin.I’ve noticed many products may be imported from overseas. If they aren’t they may just be brands your not familiar with. Like with the hair care items just check to see if the scent is for you along with any other key factors that may fit your needs. I’ve also noticed that you might find some known brands as well. I’ve come across Dove body wash or Burt’s Bees items as well. You just have to take your time and look.

I will say that the holiday season is always great because you can find bath sets for a reasonable price to give as gifts.

Body Products

One again body products are similar to bath products you will find a wide range of items known and unknown. Just check the products out to see if they have key ingredients you like or if they have the scent you like. I can say this section may be a hit or miss for some people. As mentioned above I’ve found Burt’s Bees and other name brand products as well. I”ve also seen Dr.Bonners Castie soap too. If your willing to try a brand that’s new to you it may work out.
