In this tech central day and age, there seem to be ways to expand your reach at every turn. You can join sites that help repost your content, scheduleΒ your content or even boost your content in some way. This is all fine and dandy but when your new to the social media game be it for business or even as a blogger. Many sites offer so much content sharing options for a set price.Β A lot of that can become overwhelming.

When I was doing research I was surprised that many sites I came across also offered the option of buying followers. I was aware that people did this but it made me think. Why would anyone want to buy followers? It’s like buying ghosts if you ask me. You pay money to have your social media site followers count raised by X amount.

I hadn’t really minded my follower count. I’m just surprised that people even care about what I have to say or content I share. I did have an interesting Instagram direct message this week that had me thinking about this topic again.

The sender extended a greeting of trying to help grow my followers. I figured I’d play along to find out more. I asked for a direct link. I wasn’t going to buy followers I was just curious to see if I had a reply back. Well, I did the following day. The sender clarified that their site would help grow my profile organically.Β  How buying followers is a way to grow your profile organically is beyond me.

Here’s a portion of the chat

I was very aware that many social sites were cracking down on fake followers. I recalled in the past that some sites were even deactivating accounts for this practice. The site the sender shared basically dealt with Instagram. I just checked the site they offer two plans. One is $50 for 30 days. The claim states it will grow your followers by 1,000 in a month. The site also offers a more expensive plan that claims to boost your IG following by over 2,000 followers in 30 days. I will admit the info is very lacking in luster and bare bones. It only has the usual generic info most sites show. Which is the 100% guarantee of growth in followers and engagement in 30 days.Β I know the followers you are buying will be added steadily. Yet you have to stop to think that these accounts are basicallyΒ established for buyers. This may not always be the case but I would think most are.

Again to me, this is odd. I don’t understand why a person needs to buy followers. I kindly declined the senders offer. This also got me wondering about where the money you spend goes. I assume some sites maybe US-based but your credit card info may end up who knows where. Then this gets me thinking about ID fraud as well. My train of thought went on from there.

So, in short, is buying followers worth it? I’ll leave that debate up to you. For me, I’ll stick with my slow growth rate. I don’t need to buy ghost followers.
