The opinion expressed is my own. I saw this book listed via Tomoson.com. I was compensated with a free book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Update: You can also visit Luke Weil’s company page at this link:

This is the second book I’ve read this year regarding blogging. Unlike the first book I read this one mainly focuses on how to make money with your blog. You can read more about the first blog book I reviewed. here.Â
Suffice to say that Luke Weil has and interesting point of view when it comes to making money from a blog. He outlines the basics of how to use a blog as a platform for profit besides sharing your thoughts, ideas or any thing you use your blog for. He is very straight-forward. In the introduction chapter he cuts to the chase and outlines they layout of the rest of the book. He runs throught everything from direct advertising to mailing list.Â
It is well written but can be a bit open-ended in it’s structure. He is very unbiased in his writing and at times leaves you hanging. At least that the way I felt. For example he explains many
monetization
ideas in as little as a paragraph. So for those of us starting out in the
blogosphere
may find that a bit confusing. I found the info helpful but at times some of the sites he listed for advertising or banner ads I’d never heard of. It is good in a way because it piques your interest to learn more about the website. Many of the books sites listed are just named such as Amazon and an ad service called Adsense. he doesn’t give direct links or endorse said sites.Â
He does however, offer the good and bad sides of using some advertising techniques along with drawbacks of paid advertisements. He does also have an whole section on affiliate programs and the pros and cons of this also. The one thing he’s is in favor of is having a mailing list for your established blog because that helps your audience learn about any new updates and any other news you’d like to share with them.Â
Basically it is a good outline of what you can do if you have an established blog with a fair amount of readers or if you have a high traffic blog. He does offer some interesting ideas on how to make money from your blog which is great if you have a set base of reader. From someone like me who is starting out I found to be a base tool for things to come. I hope.Â
