I recently shared a video about a random DM I was sent on Instagram. The profile stated they had lost their email and their account. Basically, they were asking me to help them recover their Instagram account.
I knew this was probably a scam or an attempt to hack into my account. I blocked and reported the profile and comment.
I shared the short video on Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and TikTok.
Comments never cease to amaze me
Within seconds of the video being shared on Facebook, I had several comments from people directing me to contact different profiles that would help me recover my lost account.
This proves my point that people don’t pay attention to what is said or shared. I even captioned the video on Instagram and Facebook. But again some how people thought I was the one who lost access to my account.
I had to restict comments on Facebook because I was having the same comment. Something similar to : i“f you lost your account contact profile XYZ and they’ll get it back for you. ”
Now Youtube yielded a whole different comment
I saw a comment a day or two ago on my Youtube short. This commenter must have thought I was really dumb or trusting.
Helo,
I have been locked out of my instagram account and need to be unlocked. I just need your credit card information because my card has been frozen. Please send quickly and i will pay you later π
I guess this person exepcted me to be trusing or stupid enough to give them credit card info so they could “unlock” their account.
I sent laughing emoji’s back as my reply. Sadly I didn’t have a follow up comment from them. It makes you wonder if anyone has falle for this tactic.
Scammers are always working
The blatant request for credit card info in the comment shows that scammers are always working. Even if it was a joke (which I doubt) it’s not funny.
I can see someone who is nieve or too trusting to fall for something like this.
But we have to remember scammers are out for themselves and our infomation. Don’t give comments like these a second thought.
