Valentine’s Day has always been a bit of an interesting day in my opinion. I enjoyed it like most kids when I was in school because we had little class parties We also exchanged valentines with our classmates.
Now that I’m older I’ve noticed how worked up people become over the day. I was listening to the radio last week and the DJ’s were reminding listeners every few seconds that Valentine’s Day was coming. I thought it was funny really because, by the way, they were talking they made it sound like it was the end of the world.
I’m single so for me today was Singles Awareness day and as a friend pointed out Taco Tuesday as well (LOL KP) Don’t get me wrong I spend the day with those I love. I made my parents a nice lunch. But when you’re single you notice how much effort people put into making Valentine’s Day special for a partner.
I’ve seen people drive themselves crazy trying to think of the perfect gift for their partner. Let’s not even get started on how many couples are engaged or marry today. But it gets me thinking about the idea of love and how much effort is put into making the day special for the one you love. Let or the one you love. Let’s not get into going to dinner, sending flowers, or both.
I spent part of my day using social media and you can see the vast difference in the age groups. The 20 somethings along with 30 somethings are all about the gifts, flowers, dinner etc. While the older generation is happy with a card or some quiet time. I’m not saying this is everyone or fits every couple but I still find it funny how someone who loves you will put so much emphasis on one day when they have the rest of the year to show you the same love.
How do you feel about Valentine’s day?
