A few weeks ago I shared about a number of fake collaboration emails I was sent from a company that claimed to be the clothing brand, Fashion Nova.
Well, I reached out to the brand and found out the emails were fake.
To be honest I knew it was fake since the email was from a Gmail account. (more about that in a bit.)
For those of you who might not be familiar with the email, you can check out the post below or watch the video.
The email
I had an email a few times this year from a brand claiming to be Fashion Nova. I never worked with this fast fashion brand or promoted them in any way. So when I had a few of these emails over the summer I thought it was odd.
I posted a copy of the email text via Facebook my personal account and our Life with Pal page.
We @fashionnova are launching our newest clothing brand @fashionnova.wore and we noticed u have been a fan of our work,

@FashionNova
Well someone contacted me via my personal Facebook page post regarding this email. They stated they had been sent the same one.
confusion ensued
The person who commented on my post stated that the email they were sent had a valid Fashion Nova URL in the email. So I guess since they came across the my post they would ask me about it.
They even stated they were a bit confused. I followed up the best I could and directed them to the proper Fashion Nova contact information.
When I had the email I reached out to Fashion Nova directly via their contact links. They replied quickly and clarified that the email was fake.
The thing not to do
Well, it seems this person replied back to the fake Fashion Nova email and was sent the following reply email. The screenshot was used with their permission.
Dear esteemed,
Copied text from Fake Fashion Nova collaboration email
you’ve totally got us wrong we had issues with people who received our PR package worth $5000 and also the first sign up bonus of $1500 and then decide not to put in any work for us.
This became a frequent occurrence and it took huge resources just finding one person. Our board of directors sat down and came up with this idea and set it as a policy. Every prospect partner and ambassador will have to pay the delivery fee of $50 this will convince the company that you are serious and committed to been part of our team. All you pay are covered by the financial packages the company is paying you. Please reply accordingly
Thank you.
Here’s the thing
It doesn’t matter where you are in the world I don’t think any legitimate brand would charge you a fee for delivery.
Another thing is that you can see by the way the email is written it’s not grammatically correct and has some errors in wording.
The next thing is the Instagram handle. There is no @fashionnova.wore you can search for it yourself.
another thing to be wary of
The large payment claims are another thing to be suspicious of. If you are being sent $5000 worth of clothing that would be a pretty large box. Also, the extra $1,500 bonus to sign up is a bit odd as well.
always reach out to the brands
Always reach out to the brands before replying to these types of emails. You can search for them online and see if they offer shipping to countries outside the US. Or even see if they have an office in your home country if you are outside of the US.
You can also reach out to brands via social media and ask as well.
If you live outside of the US you can also check the brand’s website and see if they ship to your country or offer currency exchange/country options when shopping.
Don’t fall victim to this scam. It could be costly if you do.
