Back at the end of June, I shared that my Epson Eco Tank Printer had stopped connecting to my network and I also thought Windows 11.

Well, it turns out it was a router issue.

After having the printer sitting in my room for about a week, I figured I’d try to reconnect the printer. I had done so research over the weekend and found an issue that might have been causing the disconnect.

It wasn’t Windows 11 causing the issue

I found out it wasn’t Windows 11 causing the issue. It was my router. I have a Netgear NightHawk router.

I found out that one of the auto-connect settings may be the issue.

Smart Connect was the issue

Smart connect, for some reason,n links the 2.4 GHZ and the 5 GHZ signal together. So it confuses some devices. It also causes issues with disconnects.

I explain more in the video below.

Turning off Smart Connect fixed the issue

It appears that turning off Smart Connect solved the issue. I was able to set up the printer and connect it to the network. I also found that it’s back to printing quickly.
