humbnail image source pexels.com I thought I’d share my insight on how to spot fake accounts or profiles via social media. I’m going to be talking about Instagram and Facebook. There seems to be a rise in fake accounts or profiles lately. Today’s video will focus on Instagram. Instagram: some profiles will send random messages or ones that are auto-generated. Some comments may also be off such as someone posting that a photo of a shampoo bottle is stunning for instance. Things like that. I had someone post a random comment asking if I need financial assistance to direct message them. Here’s the video that was mentioned

Some you can tell are fake because they use stock photos that you can find online. Others may have a large number of followers. stock photo used in video sourced from pixabay.com
You can use a free site named Social blade to see if Instagram profiles are real. I’ve used it myself like the interface. Some options may require you to upgrade but if your just checking to see if a profile is real and some base information then it’s free.
