I was selected to try Beyond meat plant basted burgers thanks to Ripple Street recently.
I had always wanted to know if Beyond Meat was worth the hype so I was excited to try it. I had tried Beyond Meat’s Italian sausages and thought they were very flavorful and tasty.
What Ripple Street sent us
For those of us who were selected to try the Beyond Meat burger patties, we were sent 3 free product coupons. You could purchase 2 or 4 packs of burger patties.
I was only able to use two of the three coupons. This may vary from store to store.
The products
Beyond meat burger patties are plant-based. They have no GMOs, soy, or gluten. They are also Kosher.
At first glance in the package, they look like traditional meat hamburger patties. They have what could be considered fat specks in them.
Ingredients (source Beyond Meat)
Water, pea protein*, expeller-pressed canola oil, refined coconut oil, rice protein, natural flavors, dried yeast, cocoa butter, methylcellulose, and less than 1% of potato starch, salt, potassium chloride, beet juice color, apple extract, pomegranate concentrate, sunflower lecithin, vinegar, lemon juice concentrate, vitamins and minerals (zinc sulfate, niacinamide [vitamin B3], pyridoxine hydrochloride [vitamin B6], cyanocobalamin [vitamin B12], calcium pantothenate).
Beyond does note if you are someone who is sensitive to peanuts or has an allergy to them you may want to use caution because this is made with pea protein. This could be due to a possible pea allergy.
Let’s get cooking
The packaging is easy to open. Like a traditional plastic pack, you have to cut the seal open to remove the burgers.
The patty density is similar to a thicker traditional hamburger.
According to the package you can cook them on medium-high heat for 4 minutes on each side.
I cooked them on a griddle and found that they cooked evenly and quickly.
They even sizzle as real beef burgers do. They also release liquid as well.
@lwpblog Have you ever wondered if @Beyond Meat sizzles like a real beef patty? Well it does. It also releases liquid. #ripplestreet @ripplestreetfun #BeyondMeatPack #Sponsored ♬ original sound – Life with Pal blog
The patties held up well and didn’t fall apart when they were turned. They do brown but they may not be fully browned when completely cooked.
I think I overcooked my burgers a bit. I was expecting them to brown evenly like a traditional burger. This may have been an error on my part.
According to the cooking directions, it states that it’s typical for the fully cooked patties to have a slightly pinkish hue to them. This may be on the inside or the edges of the patty.
These burgers shouldn’t be microwaved, broiled, or deep-fried.
How do the burgers taste?
I will admit I didn’t season my patties I wanted to try them straight off the griddles. I did add regular hamburger toppings. cheese lettuce, tomato, and grilled onion.
The patties offer the same texture and chew that traditional meat burgers do. The density is also the same if you like eating a thicker burger. The patties cut and break apart well just like a real burger would.
I will admit that the burger fooled me. If I hadn’t known it was plant-based I would have thought it was real meat. It didn’t have any type of aftertaste. As I mentioned before I did overcook them a bit but there wasn’t anything telling that it could be plant-based.
a few improvements
I think that if you add seasoning to your liking and any toppings such as ketchup or mustard or any sauce it will taste a bit better. But even without them, the Beyond Meat burger was good.

Final thoughts & where to buy
Final thoughts
The Beyond Meat plant-based burgers were surprisingly good. They are very comparable to traditional beef or meat-based burgers.
I liked that they cooked quickly and didn’t have any aftertaste. I didn’t have any cons about them aside from needing to season them prior to cooking.
If you are thinking of trying a plant-based meat alternative give this one a try.
Where to buy
You can visit the Beyond Meat burger product page and click the shop now or Where to Buy buttons to see which products are sold near you.
According to the site, the burgers are sold in packs of 2, 4, or 10. I’ve personally only seen 2 or 4 packs when out shopping.
Thanks to Ripple Street and Beyond Meat for the complementary products and the reviewing opportunity.
