I was going about my Saturday routine when I took some time to check out Instagram.

I always check my hidden messages because I tend to weed out junk DMs or scam profiles that reach out for content collaborations.

I was checking my creator profile when I encountered a new crypto scam.

The message sender

The profile that contacted me did so at around 9 am (PDT), but by the time I saw it in the early afternoon, the profile was blank. No profile photo or any content. As I’m typing this at around 4:40 pm (PDT) the profile has been removed by Instagram.

The profile user name is: tautiguana3109211

the message

The message made me laugh. I will admit it was similar to all the other scams that have gone around yet it had a new twist.

I can see how someone can fall for this scam. It’s appealing to someone’s trusting nature. Also who doesn’t want to be left money.

scam message IG 5/3/25. Scam claiming my long lost lover will leave me all their crypto money.
I had a long-lost lover who’s going to leave me 7 million in crypto.

Where’s the scam?

It’s a scam because no random stranger will profess their long-lost love to you and also leave you money. This can also be a Phishing scam because of the cryptocurrency aspect. If you visited the site and logged in using the info provided, it may add malware or other software ot your phone or computer.

Let’s not forget that the message was sent at sometime after 9 am but when I saw it a few hours later the profile was blank. So that should raise some alarms.

I did some digging

I did a quick internet search and found some info on the site listed.

Coinpq.com was started in April 2025 you can check out the Who Is info.

When I Googled the site nothing came up. I typed coinpq.com into the search bar and my anti-virus popped up stating that this was a phishing risk.

coinpq.com norton antivirus showed a supsected phishing notice.
Norton suspected that coinpq.com was a phishing url.

The page also showed a site can’t re reached notice from Google. I assume the hosting provider took it down.

what can you do if you have this DM?

If you have a similar DM via any social media platform you can report it, block the sender and delete it.

Another thing you can do is spread the word. No one should fall prey to these scammers.
