In March I shared that the cats were selected to try a new litter additive by Arm & Hammer I had a little bit of the product left so I thought I’d try another test.
You can check out my first post to learn more about the product below.
Testing the last of the second bottle
When I originally tried the product I was gifted a free bottle from Arm & Hammer Kitty crew. I purchased a second bottle to test the product more thoroughly.
I had a little left in the bottle so I tested it out.
I had about a sprinkle of crystals left. Bear was kind enough to help me out and spread them around. Being that I felt this was too little of a product to give an accurate test I purchased a thrid bottle.
Surfice to say the second bottle’s crystals were so limited it didn’t yield a result.
Testing the 3rd bottle
I ordered another 6 uses bottle of Arm & Hammer Health IQ litter additive.
This bottle’s crystals seemed a bit smaller various the previous bottle.
I know there would be a slight difference in each product batch because it’s bound to happen
The color’s seemed to be spread out evenly. they are like a pale white and orange.
The litter box test
This time around I used a different litter. I used Dr. Elsey’s Ultra litter.
I shook the Arm & Hammer Health IQ into the litter box.
Then I waited for the cat’s to use the litter box.
Some things to know
From what I read during my original use of the product you need to wait 4 hours for the color changing effect to take place. Also if you have a multi-cat household you should use individual boxes. I guess this would be to avoid any false positive readings. Or it could be for better hygenie to ensure a proper reading of the color the litter changes for each cat.
The color chart is provided on the bottle as well as the website.
From my original testing I found that if your litter has odor absorbing additives in it the litter either turns a sandy looking color or doesn’t have any color changes.
Third bottle test results
Well the results weren’t what I expected. I tested it a few times over the past 3 days. I used the entire bottle and can say this product didn’t work well.
I had the same results as the first two tests. But this time the litter didn’t change color. Yet you can see some of the litter additive crystals in the litter.
I had really hoped this product would work. The concept is great and can be helpful for many cat owners.
But sadly it didn’t work for us. I hoped that changing litter brands would have yielded a better result but to my surprise it didn’t.

Final thoughts and Where to buy
Final thoughts
After testing 3 bottles of Arm & Hammer Health IQ litter additive it’s safe to say that it didn’t work well for my cats. I tried two different litters but still had the same results. No color changes. I don’t know if this is because my cats like to dig or if the litter consistency was a bit thicker.
It’s a great product and worth testing if you think this is something you’d like to try.
